Listening to Families has three main objectives:
A new series of videos has been recorded about coeliac disease that covers a range of topics
Video clips are used to provide the information to address the objectives. Each question and answer is one video clip – most are less than 6 minutes. The video clips record a conversation between real people – people with experience who know the questions and those with the knowledge to answer them in a way that is easy to understand. Feedback from families confirms that the questions being asked are their questions, they identify with the people asking the questions.
The Listening to Families website is also a wonderful educational tool for health professionals, which enables practitioners to share the link with families and discuss the content during a meeting or consultation. Many are using the information to inform their practice.
Additional topics are being added each month. There are currently 370+ clips on the site.
Listening to families is a community initiative funded by The Maia Health Foundation and volunteers.
