Keto is the common term used to describe the ultra-low carbohydrate ketogenic diet. This diet focuses on the consumption of high fat, moderate protein, and very little carbohydrates, in the following ratio 70-80% fat, 10-20% protein; and about 5-10% carbohydrates.

For people diagnosed with coeliac disease a strict gluten free diet is required to be maintained for life. The option to adapt a keto diet to also be gluten free can easily be made and may be suitable for people with coeliac disease who want or need to lose weight. Keto French Toast B.L.A.T

Ingredients

1 egg

1 tablespoon cream

1 teaspoon finely chopped parsley

1/2 teaspoon finely chopped garlic chives

pinch of salt and pepper

1 tablespoon butter for frying

2 slices Vogel’s original mixed seed keto bread

2 rashers of grilled bacon

1-2 leaves of lettuce

2 slices of tomato

3 slices of avocado

1-2 tablespoon of keto friendly aioli

Method

  1. Whisk the egg, cream, parsley, chives, salt, and pepper in a bowl wide enough to dip the bread in.
  2. Heat the butter in a fry pan on a medium heat.
  3. Dip the bread in the egg mixture coating both sides and fry until golden brown. If you have extra egg mixture, spread on to bread slices just before flipping.
  4. Arrange filling ingredients between the bread slices and enjoy.
