Coeliac NZ member Hugo Reade shares his experience living at Alert Level 3.
We went into lock down at the end of the day on the 23rd of March 2020. Mum and Dad are both office workers so they have to work from home with my sister - Tui - and me in the house.
We heard about other families panic buying but we didn’t need to because we normally grab 2 or 3 of any nice GF stuff we see in the shops in case it’s not there next time. Dad cooked some good stuff - my favourite was chicken wings, Mum cooked some fresh bread thanks to the Gluten Free Store, she also made some yummy baking from the recipes on gfme.co.nz and I baked the great gluten-free Healtheries muesli slice. (recipe by CNZ Ambassador Alana Scott)
Schoolwork has been a bit of a hassle and the fact that we can’t go out on weekends is a bit annoying too, but I dhttps://coeliac.org.nz/product/berry-de-light-muesli-slice-2/id extend my bubble to go to my Gran and Grandad’s house and I also have a skate ramp under my house so that’s been fun. Level 3 was a relief, we could get Hell Pizza, St Pierre’s Sushi, and even GF doughnuts from Wen And Yen! Hope you and your families are keeping healthy. Let’s see what happens in level 2!
