Today marks the first service of an elevated Lunar New Year dining experience developed by Onemata at Park Hyatt Auckland in partnership with Lee Kum Kee. For the month of February, Onemata, the 2025 New Zealand Hotel Restaurant of the Year, will be serving a six-course Chinese-inspired culinary celebration each evening.
The tasting menu has been carefully curated by Executive Chef, Brent Martin, prioritising premium seasonal ingredients and delving into the catalogue of authentic Asian sauces produced by Lee Kum Kee. His penchant for innovative dish design that fuses local ingredients with international flavours is definitely on display as dishes range from braised paua with chili crème on fry bread (featuring Lee Kum Kee Chilli Garlic Sauce), to Prosperity salad (with Lee Kum Kee Mushroom Oyster Sauce, Pure Sesame Oil and Chilli Garlic Sauce).
“I love Chinese cuisine and their focus that extends beyond flavour to include colour, texture and tradition,” says Chef Brent Martin.
“Designing this Lunar New Year Menu has been so enjoyable – balancing traditional and modern techniques, local produce with global recipes and working across the full depth of the Lee Kum Kee product offering – and the result is a flavour journey that is the perfect way to celebrate the coming Year of the Fire Horse”.
Lee Kum Kee produces over 300 types of Chinese and Asian sauces, with an extensive range of gluten-free products that are Crossed Grain Logo accredited by Coeliac New Zealand. Designed to bring traditional Cantonese flavours into domestic kitchens, the brand is a trusted source for genuine Asian cooking, enjoyed by households across New Zealand for its wide range of convenient and flavourful products.
“We’re delighted to be partnering with Onemata to deliver a distinctive dining experience this Lunar New Year. The dishes are inspired, and we are delighted with the creativity Chef Brent Martin has shown in the integration of Lee Kum Kee in this menu. No diner will be disappointed,” says Susan Jackson, Senior Brand Manager, Lee Kum Kee.
