The gluten-free diet is better understood as being more than a lifestyle trend now that an increasing number of people are being diagnosed with coeliac disease. But while there are more gluten-free products and menu options available, making it appear easier for people with coeliac disease to live freely there are real concerns when dining outside the home – at work functions, events, or at restaurants and cafes that strict gluten free standards are being adhered to.
The Dining Out Programme provides an independent endorsement to ensure gluten-free food is produced and served safely and a representative number of staff have completed the online DoP training and are knowledgeable about coeliac disease.
